Best Free Costumes #2: Rock Star
Yesterday I showed you a few tips to make a hobo costume at home. Now for #2 on our easy and high-impact costumes:
- Rock Star:
Updated clothing and accessories…a flashy coat doesn’t hurt if you have something with faux fur around the collar.
Girls, don’t do this one too skimpy or you’ll just look like a hooker. This is your chance to glam up in a sophisticated and over-the-top way. Ripped jeans with a glittery top will work, along with bangles and gold at your neck. For the makeup, really over do it, but try not to look like a clown. Earrings are a must, and your hair has to have enough hairspray to make you flammable. However you do your hair, remember to go for a look. If you’re going big, go all the way. Amy Winehouse hair is hard to achieve, but worth the effort for a costume with high impact. For a tamer look, go the way of Miley Cyrus or Celine Dion.
Guys, go for a specific kind of look. With big sunglasses, a slick hat and lots of rings, anyone can look like a star. Not all of us own leather pants, so ripped jeans will work just fine. You can go glam or grunge, it’s up to you. I would suggest choosing one star and going with it, or no one will know what you’re trying to be. Avoid the Kurt Cobain with a bullet hole in his temple. This is overdone and no one is amused by it anymore. Steven Tyler from Aerosmith is an easy outfit, but you’ll need a big mouth to really make the outfit.
Tune in tomorrow for the moment you’ve been waiting for…#1 on my list of Best Free Costumes that you can make from stuff at home. Have a suggestion for a rock star costume? Comment below!
